25 Things I Learned by 25

  1. Make exercise a part of your life routine. It's so good for mood lifting, and stress relief.
  2. Say yes to more things. Social events. Coffee dates.
  3. Also remember your personal priorities. It's OK to miss parties if you don't feel like going. It's OK to say "no" so that you can put your goals and needs first. You probably don't need the alcohol calories anyway.
  4. Most of the time, your intuition is pretty spot on. Don't ignore it.
  5. Recognize that it's OK to be away from your phone sometimes.
  6. Find a hobby. I've heard blogging's pretty fun.
  7. Make more time for family.
  8. Don't overcommit yourself. It only stresses you out.
  9. Travel as much as you can. There's so much more to the world to see than you even realize.
  10. Don't view "right now" as a trap. View it as an opportunity. As a stepping stone to where you want to go next.
  11. Save money. You'll be amazed as you watch your dollars grow.
  12. Unfortunately, there is a lot more evil in this world than you realize when you're younger. You'll become less naive, but don't let it take away from your optimism.
  13. You're going to grow up. You're going to mature. You're going to have relationships and friends that you outgrow. You're going to look back at pictures of yourself saying "what in the world was I thinking wearing that!?" This all happens, and it's all OK.
  14. Don't skimp on hotel rooms for a vacation just because it's a cheaper rate. Pay the extra $100 for a place that will accommodate you, remember to clean up your rooms, and has a decent continental breakfast that consists of more than just waffles and stale fruit. Trust me on this one.
  15. Wake up early on the weekends and accomplish something.
  16. But don't feel guilty if you spend a whole Saturday at the beach doing nothing. A refresh could be exactly what you need.
  17. Put effort into friendships. School made it so easy. The real world requires that you actually try.
  18. Some things are better left off social media.
  19. Remember that everyone is struggling with something. Kindness always wins.
  20. Don't over clutter your life or your closet. You only wear a portion of those clothes anyway. Invest in better pieces that'll last, not cheap trends that won't make it to next season.
  21. Less fast food, more slow "real" food. Veggies are actually delicious.
  22. Tomorrow is always a new day.
  23. Communication is key. If you never ask, the answer is always no. Speak up for what you want when you know what you want.
  24. Good things happen to those who hustle. A little cliché, but it's true. Make things happen, don't wait around for them to.
  25. You thought by 25 you'd have it all figured out, but you actually have so far to go. Don't rush, and try to enjoy it.

  1. I liked a few of these but the last one speaks to me on a personal level. I always thought I'd have all my shit together by 25 (I turned it in February) and yet I find I'm still a bit all over the place. :)

    1. Samantha, thank you. These are the truest words! It always seemed like the 25 year olds before us had it together. Unless they were just pretending. ;)

I'm also a February baby! The 26th. When is yours?

We'll have it all together at some point.
