Best of Brunch: Tupelo Honey Cafe

We are so super close to sharing our Pigeon Forge travel diary with you all and I'm so excited! Make sure you're subscribed to Keeping Up with Kahla on Youtube so you don't miss when it's uploaded. The trip was an absolute blast, and on our final day we had some time to kill in Knoxville, Tennessee. Ben and I are Nashville junkies through and through. While we love our share of late nights on Broadway with cover bands galore, it was nice to get a taste of what else the Volunteer state has to offer. We also enjoyed getting a literal taste at one of Knoxville's cutest brunch spots: Tupelo Honey Cafe.

Tupelo Honey Cafe's menu is full of luscious brunch options. It's serves up some real southern food treats. The menu ranges from sweet potato pancakes, to goat cheese infused grits, all the way to blueberry french toast made out of challah bread. Are you drooling yet? Your tastebuds won't know what to choose because it all sounds so dang tasty.

And don't even get me started on their biscuits. My meal could have been those alone. They were served to our table complete with honey to drizzle on them and berry compote to smear them with. Our table of four powered right through them without a pillow of dough left to spare. YUM.

After perusing the Tupelo Honey Cafe menu for a brunch item to enjoy, I opted for the Avocado Toast & Eggs - sunny side up, of course. Those who know me know I'm an avocado connoisseur - my pool floatie speaks for itself. They're a staple in my diet and I'm no stranger to spreading the green goodness on toast for lunch or a quick snack. When I tried Tupelo Honey Cafe's avocado toast it set a bar that I knew I would never be able to recreate in my own kitchen.

The avocado was spread over a thick slice of hearty toast. It was drizzled with red chili honey, topped off with aleppo pepper. The flavors served on this dish were literally dynamite. It was the perfect balance of sweet heat with a kick of freshness. As I sliced bites of the avocado toast to eat,  I made sure to dip them into the runny yolks of my eggs. An on point combo if I do say so myself.

I would so be a loyal repeat customer if only Tupelo Honey Cafe had a Florida location. For now I'll just have to reminisce about the yumminess while staring at the Insta I captured minutes before I dove into my meal.

The Tupelo Honey Cafe in Knoxville is only one of many! You can find more of their locations on their website. If upscale southern comfort food is your thing (which who are we kidding, how can it NOT be?), then make sure you stop in at Tupelo Honey Cafe if you get the chance.

Have you been to Tupelo Honey Cafe before? What did you order?
